a New Tea Party of the Left in Georgia

The Formation of the New Georgia Progressives

On Saturday, at the Blackshear Library, in Gainesville, GA, a group of progressive activists formed the New Georgia Progressives, a Tea Party of the Left.  The group's ambition is to reform the Democratic party and create networks of all left-oriented Progressives regardless of party affiliation to transform the state towards a more democratic union.  The group chose Kit Carson, of Auburn, as it's acting Chairperson, and Teresa Gay, of Lumpkin County, as it's acting Secretary.

The group was a splinter group formed from the Northeast Georgia Progressives, a political movement originating in the mass effect of the 2016 election.  While that group chose to focus on working with the existing Democratic Structure, David Vogel led the formation of this group as an independent effort to reform the state party, push it towards the left on issues of tax reform to benefit the poor and middle class, and other measures aimed at traditional New-Deal style labor-party progressivism.

The group, which seeks to create a democratic model (designed to ultimately model a citizen-assembly in a re-visioned state constitution) within itself, is currently seeking like minded individuals to help organize the state towards a more pluralistic, multi-party, more progressive place.   Please contact Kit Carson at progbulldog.gmail if you are interested in joining a truly democratic progressive organization.
